On March 23 the Motiv8 Gosport music project at Rowner Youth Centre received a visit from Tom Floyd, High Sheriff of Hampshire. The music project received a Highly Commended Certificate from the judges of the National Crimebeat Awards.
The National Crimebeat awards are given for groups of young people who have made a significant contribution to improving safety and reducing crime in their local communities.
The music project was particularly commended for Breathe, the song and video they created about the dangers of so-called legal highs or new psychoactive substances (NPS).
Commenting on the evening at Rowner Youth Centre, Tom said, “Crimebeat Awards are open to challengers from across the whole country and it gives me the greatest of pleasure to recognise the talent and enthusiasm of the young people of Gosport. It was a really fun evening of music with lots of blossoming talent.”
